I am my own grandfather.
After long years as a bachelor I was tired of being alone and married a widow with a grown daughter. My father fell in love with the daughter and took her as his wife. This made me my own son-in-law and my stepdaughter became my mother. After a year my wife gave birth to a son. Now, my son was my father's brother-in-law and at the same time my uncle, since he was my stepmother's brother. But my father's wife also gave birth to a son. So this was my brother and also my grandson, since he was the son of my daughter. This meant I'd married my grandmother, since she was the mother of my mother. As my wife's husband, I was also her grandson. And since the husband of a grandmother is always a grandfather, I am my own grandfather.

Thank God It's Friday, May 29
What a week!
I've been looking forward to tonight since this week started. I had this research paper that I had to turn in today, and it was hard. Like, really hard you guys. I love writing, but not when I have to analyze plays and literary concepts, though I know it's good practice for aspiring writers. John Green, an author and one of the vlogbrothers, once said that in order to become a good writer you have to read and write and analyze, because that is the apprenticeship to becoming a good writer. But this research paper is finally finished, though I didn't really like it. But we'll see how it turned out. We have the final Monday that I will be studying for all weekend. That should go well I think.
Probably the best thing that happened today is my hot water heater was fixed. It had gone out today, and of course I didn't notice until after 5:ooPM. This meant that our custodial staff had already left for the day, and wouldn't be able to get back until Monday. Cold showers all weekend, my favorite. Luckily Todd is a great guy and came back and fixed it for me. Shout out to my man Todd.
Another good thing that will happen this weekend is that I will be getting paid. Not only will I be getting paid the $515 for the apartments, but I'm also getting paid the $426 for working at central campus. So this month I am getting a staggering $941. But all of that money is going straight to the bank account to save up for fraternity dues and books for next semester.
The final plus for this weekend is that one of my brothers David is having his birthday party tonight, and that should be fun. I'm probably going to take a nap or something before I head over there. And I get to take a hot shower before hand!

I Google Image searched "Thank God It's Friday" and this is one of the first images that showed up. It made my day instantly better, except that it should be "it's" not "its." But that's just the English major in me. I think that this will be the picture I use from now on for my T.G.I.F. posts. Or maybe just until I get a funnier picture. We'll see.
The one thing I'm not looking forward to this weekend is check-outs. Whenever an RA is on duty, they are in charge of any check-outs for that day. I'm on duty tomorrow and Sunday. Lucky me, Sunday is the day that most of the contracts expire for the apartments. That means that everyone is checking out Sunday, and I get to do it! Oh boy! Hopefully it won't be too bad though.
So how's your week been, and what do you have going on? Leave it in the comments.

Thoughts on Thursday, May 28
Currently all of my thoughts are occupied by Shakespeare and this damn research paper. It's due tomorrow. And I'm hating myself right now. So if I write about Shakespeare, that would be like studying and preparing for the final Monday, right? Right.
Why I like Shakespeare: He's witty and dirty. Here's one of his sonnets that I think captures this the best. Sonnet 135:
Whoever hath her wish, thou hast thy Will,
And Will to boot, and Will in overplus;
More than enough am I that vex thee still,
To thy sweet will making addition thus.
Wilt thou, whose will is large and spacious,
Not once vouchsafe to hide my will in thine?
Shall will in others seem right gracious,
And in my will no fair acceptance shine?
The sea, all water, yet receives rain still
And in abundance addeth to his store;
So thou, being rich in Will, add to they Will
One will of mine, to make thy large Will more.
Let no unkind no fair beseechers kill;
Think all but one, and me in that one Will.
In this sonnet he's playing around with his name (the capitalized Will) and sexual innuendos (sweet "will" making). I don't need to tell you what he means when he's asking her to hide his will in her "large and spacious" will. I think it's brilliant how he manipulates words.
A lot of people get turned off when they think of Shakespeare because they think they can't read it or understand it, but I say push through it! This sonnet is hilarious! Sure there are some parts that are hard to understand, but there are plenty of collections of Shakespeare's works that have notes to help you better understand it. If you want to read a dirty play read "Measure for Measure." It's hysterically dirty.
Also, I'm pretty sure he was in love with a guy. Actually a lot of people are pretty sure about this, seeing how some hundred and twenty something of his sonnets were written to a younger male. I don't think the earring helps any.
He frequented taverns. He left his wife his "second best bed." He constantly writes about sex and venereal diseases. He wrote love poems to an unknown guy. He went to brothels that popped up around the theaters.
And they say Shakespeare is sophisticated.

A cat sits on a hot stove- QotD
"We should be careful to get out of an experience all the wisdom that is in it--not like the cat that sits on a hot stove lid. She will never sit down on a hot lid again--and that is well; but also she will never sit down on a cold one anymore."-Mark Twain
I don't know the history behind this quote, how Mark Twain intended it to be used, but when I first heard this quote it was in the context of racism. It states that the cat learns not to sit on stoves, because he was burned by the last one he sat on. Unfortunately people often learn like that cat does. If someone has a bad experience with one person from a different race, then they learn not to trust everybody from that race. What they should have learned is not to trust that one person, like the cat should not sit on only hot stoves. I think this is very true. And I used to think that racism didn't really exist anymore and that it had faded out.
I grew up in a town that was 80% black, 15% white, and 5% other (yes I just made a giant catagory for all the other races). Obviously, most of my friends were black, or at least the same amount were black that were white. Race was never a big issue where I came from. To some extent I was sheltered. I do remember one of my friends telling me about a time he walked home. He literally was just walking down the road after school when a cop pulled to the side and started harassing him about where he just came from, where he was going, and what was in his bag. This was one of my friends who never got into any major trouble. After hearing this I just kinda brushed it off. An isolated incident, right?
Not so much. Now that I'm in college I would like to say that everyone here was the same as back home, and that racism was a thing of the past. I would also like to say that the world is at peace, and all religions finally learned to get along. But I would be lying. Sadly many people are still under the impression that someone is inherently inferior simple because of their race. Now, not everyone here is like this. In fact most people aren't. But more people were than I knew back home. But is that true, or was I just unaware when I was younger because of how my parents raised me?
When I was little, five or so, my family and I went to a Braves game. We were up in the nose bleeds (the seats so high it makes your nose bleed) and we were having a great time. There was a large group of black guys sitting behind us, and they were in their twenties or so. Whenever they talked to each other they would use slang and called each other "niggers." Now, being five and never hearing that word while growing up, I didn't know what it meant. So I asked.
"Sir," I asked, "what's a 'nigger?'" They all stopped talking. One of them stood up.
"Guys," he said, "we just taught this little boy something he shouldn't ever hear." After that they stopped saying it and bought me peanuts for the rest of the game.
Now, I always wondered why "nigga" was a term used to refer to other black people. So I asked my good friend, and someone I consider a mentor, why this was. He explained it as this: when there is a class system of any kind, people in the same class often refer to each other using terms they identify with. Such as poor people calling each other "po'." Now I can understand this mentality, but I still think that any derogatory word no matter how it's used will still bring down that group of people. Ergo, that word should not be used anymore, by anyone. But that's only wishful thinking.
For my last issue that I'm going to bring up here, I would just like to mention black culture how I've heard it used by some people. Now I've heard people say that black culture is saggy pants, rap music, idolization of the gangster, etc. I would just like to say that I do not think this is black culture, but urban culture. In big cities, such as Hotlanta (sidenote, "Hotlanta" is a word, according to spell check), this is the prominent culture. But I bet if you move out to the rural areas, the culture is a lot different. Why I think urban and black culture get confused, as well as white and rural culture, is because of demographics.
For example, if more white people live in rural areas, it would be easier to say that rural culture is white culture. The same for urban culutre and black culture. But what about any white people who live in the city and follow the urban culture, or vice versa? Would that would mean the white person is following black culture? No. That white person is following urban culture. But what if they're not even black or white? Of course there are all sorts of demeaning terms for people like this. Racism has been around for a long time.
In closing, I do not think all hope is lost. I think that my generation will be the one to end racism. After all, our new president is black, interracial relationships are on the rise, or are at least not so uncommon, and people have generally become more tolerant of differences. Of course there are still things that need to be fixed, but that will always be the case. Civil wars are still being fought because of race, like the Hutu and the Tutsi. And I know that I do come from a middle class background, and will not know the many difficulties that some people face due to race. But I do see a brighter future. I think that there are some bigger problems that we will face, and to get through them we are going to have to learn to live together.
What do you think? Leave your ideas in the comments below.

PS- If you're wondering how I had time to write this if I was going to be extremely busy for the rest of the week, I had an extremely productive day so far and was able to get more work done than I thought. Wish me luck for the rest of the week.

My Apologies
So yeah, according to my schedule I was supposed to have posted a lot more stuff by now... and I haven't. It's just that Maymester is wrapping up and a friend came in town last night and I have a research paper due Friday and I've just been busy. So I'm sorry I haven't had time to really get back to writing much lately. Well, on here at least.
Just because I haven't been writing here doesn't mean that I haven't thought of any new stories or tales though. I am actually in the process of working on a project for the blogosphere that hopefully will be revealed in the next few days. I'll keep you posted. (Get it? Posted via posting. Hooray for puns!)
So it looks like the new scheme is working out pretty well, and y'all seem to dig it, so I'm going to keep it. I'm satisfied. Also, it was suggested that I keep fraternity related stories separate. I think this is a great idea. In fact, I like this idea so much that I'm going to have a separate day just for fraternity stories. So here is the revised schedule:
Monday: Favorite Quotes
Tuesday: Fraternity Stories
Wednesday: Story Post
Thursday: Thursday Thoughts
Friday: TGIF
That's a lot of writing guys, I hope y'all actually read that much. Also, TGIF will be stories from the week that explain why I look forward to the weekends. And I'm not going to be writing on the weekend, because I need sometime to refresh my awesome for the following week.
So, sorry for not getting back to you until now, and it looks like I won't be posting much this week. So maybe I'll treat you to some stories this weekend. Only if you're nice.

Weekend Update
New Look
So if you're looking at this for the first time this weekend, there have obviously been some changes to the blog. Here's the scoop. Aquaman came over this weekend and we did a lot to our blogs. To make a long story short, we had everything like we wanted when we noticed that our comment boxes were missing. Now, for me the main reason I have this blog is to improve my writing. How can I do that if you can't read it? So what we had to do to fix the problem was to create new blogs. All of the
old stories are still here, but all of the comments were deleted.
Now, I guess I should ask, how do you like the new look? I personally like this picture of Beast because he has a pony tail. For those of you who don't know, I used to have really long hair too. This is a great picture of me with a pony tail. I'm supposed to be the Last Samurai or something. But what do you think? Should I change the color scheme? If you have any ideas just post a comment.
Old Friends
So this summer has been pretty good, except that everybody has left town. So it's pretty much been Shakespeare and I so far, except this weekend. A lot of people came in town this weekend and we got to hang out. As I said, Aquaman and James came over last night and literally spent the whole night just hanging out. It was good to catch up with them. Aquaman and I have become really close over the past year, and towards the end of this past semester it seemed like we got too busy to really hang out with each other, so this weekend was good.
On top of those two coming in town, one of my old friends Nay Nay dropped by too. Nay Nay is another one of my brothers who I don't really get to see a lot. He was one of my pledge brothers, like Aquaman and James, but he had to go back home last year, so it's been a while since we got to hang out. More good news with Nay Nay, he's coming back next year and will hopefully be an active brother.
Movies
Now one of my friends always makes fun of me because all I do is watch movies. However, one of my other friends always yells at me because I haven't seen many movies. This confuses me. Anyway, I just finished watching Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds and I have to say I enjoyed it. In the movie he plays a guy who was always "just a friend" and never the boy friend, then goes away for ten years and comes back a successful and attractive guy to woo his old sweetheart. I personally find this movie funny because I was "just a friend" most of high school.
In the movie he states that once a guy becomes a friend to a girl he no longer becomes dating material. I think this is a bit exaggerated, but it does have some truth in it. From what I can tell through past experiences, when you become "just a friend" but still have feelings for her, staying friends doesn't really work. So what should you do? My advice is just to move on. Don't stop talking to her, but don't expect anything else. And if you still like her, I would suggest not hanging out with her as much as you used to.
Going Home
So I haven't been home since I can't remember, but I get to go home tomorrow! It's going to be good to see the family, however brief it may be, and the hometown and all of my friends. Hopefully I'll get a chance to go back to Sangria's, the old restaurant I worked at last summer. Also, I'm getting new tires! This is especially exciting because I haven't changed my tires in, oh about six years. Needless to say we're about due. Oh you don't know? I drive a 1977 Chevrolet Scottsdale. I call her the Smurphmobile. She's my baby.
So that pretty much wraps up this weekend and a little about what's to come. I'll have more posts soon, and remember to leave any comments or suggestions.

New Blog Structure
So my friend Aquaman came down this weekend. He's in my fraternity as well, and he's also one of the Executive Councilmen. This weekend we had an EC retreat, where basically we sat in a room for five hours and talked and talked and talked about what we're going to do for the upcoming year. In the end it was a productive meeting, but I don't feel like thinking much after that.
Back to Aquaman. We're chilling in my apartment now before we to head over to another one of my brother's place for his Double-Deuce Birthday Bash. It should be a good time. Aquaman's now helping me figure out more stuff to this whole Blogger website. He should know, since he stayed up several nights in a row messing around with it. But basically I was having trouble posting comments on other people's blogs, and finally we got it working. Oh, and if you try to post a comment on anything I write, which I encourage you to do, I have it so that I must approve the comment first. This is just to keep out spam or stupid comments (like "durr ur gay" or "lolz omg!!!!1). I think I might change this soon though.
You also might have noticed a new bar along the bottom of the page. This is a general comment box that you can use to comment on my blog as a whole. Like if you like the font or if you like the color scheme or this or that.
So I got to thinking that this blog needs some stability, which is ironic because this post is pretty scattered. So I'm going to have a specific post per day, like this:
Monday: Quotes to Ponder
Tuesday:
Wednesday: Story Post
Thursday: Thursday Thoughts
Friday:
Saturday: Weekend Update
For "Quotes to Ponder" I'm going to have a different quote per week, then after the quote I will talk about it and how it's effecting my life or why I like it. The "Story Post" will be posts like "The Watchmen of Wells" where I make up some ridiculous tale about a mundane task. "Thursday Thoughts" will be the post where I put my two cents in about a current event or a philosophical topic. And "Weekend Update" is just what happened that week and what's coming up for the next weekend. Sunday I'm taking off, even though I know it'll be hard for you without one of my captivating posts.
Now, right about now you might be asking, "Beast, what about Tuesday and Friday? You don't have any post topics for those." And then I might tell you that you're like a stockholder for this blog, so I'm letting you decide what I write about every Tuesday and Thursday. Leave your suggestions in the comment box, and by Tuesday I will have a post based on your descion.
As for now, I'm going to go back to try and figure out some more things about the site. Mainly, I'm going to try and figure out how to search for blogs about specific topics. If you know how, please let me know in the comment section.
