PLATYO 2.0: Week 0

Alright, so here's the deal. A while back I started up the Project Lose A Ten Year Old in which I tried to lose the weight equivalent of a ten year old, or 100 pounds. (I'm not sure if that's exactly right, but it sounds catchy.) Life got in the way and I let it fall to the side. But now my clothes are starting to get tighter and I really need to get back on it. So here's the plan.

My girlfriend and I are going to be working out/dieting together. I'm looking into gym memberships now and will get signed up soon. Freshman year I remember working out with my roommates. I ended up losing a good bit of weight and was starting to look pretty good. But now I've gained all of that and more, so it's time to get back to work.

My family has a history of being overweight. I've seen the health issues that it's caused for my father and I don't want to go through those myself. Plus I just want to look good. I'm tired of being overweight and I want to do something about it. So here's the plan for the workout and the diet.

WORKOUT
  • Monday
    • Upper body
  •  Tuesday
    • Legs
  • Wednesday
    • Core and Cardio
  • Thursday
    • Upper body
  • Friday
    • Legs
  • Saturday
    • Core and Cardio
  • Sunday
    • Rest
This is the workout schedule that I used my freshman year, and I want to get back on it. It's a good balance between everything and hopefully I'll get the same results that I did three years ago.

DIET
  1. No fried foods.
  2. Eat three meals a day.
  3. Have a balanced meal every meal.
  4. Only drink water. (Alcohol will be allowed in moderation.)
  5. Allowed one "free meal" per week.
Again, this is the plan that I stuck to freshman year and it worked out well, so it should work this time around.

Now that I have my outline, it's time to actually stick to it. It was easier to do freshman year because I was far less busy and lived on campus, so I could walk to the gym and had a meal plan at the cafeteria. Now I have to plan lunches and I have to find a 24 hour gym so I can fit a workout into my schedule. But hey, that's life.

Do you have any diet/workout tips? Is my plan good or bad? I could really use any help that you guys can give me. Anyway, I'll update you next Sunday on how it's going! Until then,

PLATYO Day 29

So it's day 29 of the Project Lose a Ten Year Old and I still have done terrible, this last week especially. I've continued to eat out a lot and I haven't been running. But next week my girlfriend said she would go run with me, so I'm excited to get back to working out!

Also the school year has started up and is in full force. I've been very busy and I still have a lot of work to do before Chapter (my fraternity meeting) tonight, so today's post is going to be short. I hope everyone out there who is working on their diets are doing well!

PLATYO Day 22

So it's been a crappy weekend as far as the diet goes. I haven't even really tried to follow it. I've had ice cream and snacks and I've been out to eat. I've even had two cokes and sweet tea. During the week I did better. I worked out sporadically. I only had water. All in all, I've been doing terrible.

I thought I would be doing better, but it's been really hard to get back into the habit of working out. I remember freshman year of college I worked out 6 days a week, ate healthy, and dropped a lot of weight. I want to get back to that. I want to get back to feeling like I have a lot of energy. I think when school starts back up it will help too because I'll have order. I'll have a schedule. It might be weird for someone in school to say this, but I really wish school would start back up.I need order. I need a schedule. If I have things to do I'll make sure they get done. I like being busy. I do well. And honestly, I think everyone does. I think everyone needs to stay busy.

For example, my great-grandfather was a smart man. But then the day came when his doctor told him he couldn't work any more. So he started staying at home. Then he developed Alzheimer's. After his death, my great-grandmother started to have the same symptoms. I think they really needed something to do and to keep their minds occupied. When one of my uncles found out that he was HIV positive his health started to drop dramatically. Then my other uncle whom he was living with had a heart attack. When my uncle realized that he was needed to help out around the house he started doing better. I think it was because he had something to do. It all makes a difference.

So the plan right now is to go running before I have class. I would start tomorrow but Friday I got bit by an ant and I'm having an allergic reaction. I got bit right under my small toe and now my whole foot is swollen and red. I've been taking Benadryl and nothing's helping. Tomorrow I'm going to go to the student health center and get it checked out. Hopefully they'll give me something to make all the swelling go down. It kinda hurts too, but I think that's just because my skin isn't used to being stretched like that. Oh well, these things happen right?

But for now I'm going to get ready for school tomorrow morning. First day of class, woo!
