Then You Must Be Grounded

This is a short poem I wrote for my good friend Katie.

When you are bored and inside your home
Wishing you were out and able to roam,
Drinking Sweet Tea from a cup made of foam,
Then you must be grounded.

When you sit down and try to remember
All of those times in late December
When you and I were yearbook members,
Then you must be grounded.

If you think back (because you can't go and play)
Of me driving you around to get Chick-Fil-A,
Not worrying about what Pastor Roy would say,
Then you must be grounded.

If you remember the ol' "Pull and Tuck"
And singing Nickelback songs in my truck,
Heading back to class not giving a duck,
Then you must be grounded.

Games of Backgammon in J. Rob's class,
Not doing work and having a blast,
Wishing those days would always last,
Then you must be grounded.

If you're writing a poem about high school years
Remembering the chuckles, laughs, and the tears,
Football games and all of the cheers,
Then you must be bored.
